What to Bring
A short hike with wet feet needs a slightly different kit than a normal day hike. Nothing here is exotic — but forgetting the last item on the list is the one people regret.
Checklist
Pack this before you drive
There is nothing to buy at the trailhead and no drinking water on site.
Water
More than a short hike suggests. Creek water is not drinking water.
Traction footwear
Grippy hiking shoes you are willing to soak.
Water shoes
Or secure hiking sandals with real tread.
Extra socks
Dry socks change the whole return trip.
Offline trail map
Download it before you go — canyon cell service is unreliable.
Phone
Charged, and in a waterproof pouch or bag.
Trekking poles
Excellent for balance in moving water.
Bug spray
The damp creek corridor holds insects.
Sunscreen
Sun reaches the canyon floor in open stretches.
Swimsuit
If you plan to get in and conditions allow.
Small towel
Quick-dry packs down to nothing.
Dry clothes for the vehicle
The single most appreciated item on the list.
